Our law enforcement received a call from a resident claiming that someone had thrown a plastic bag onto the bridge from a moving vehicle. Residents said they thought there was a dog inside because they could see it curled up from the top of the bridge.

Officers from the sheriff's office and an animal services officer then spent about 30 minutes trying to get close by "running through thick bushes, crawling on [they're] hands on their knees. and up a 15-foot-long wall. In the end, only abandoned animals reach her.

"They found a young female dog in a small blue plastic bag that was thrown away like garbage," the Orange County Animal Services Department said. Our officers and deputy sheriffs had to risk their lives to climb down the steep embankment. We are grateful for their bravery and quick response.

Authorities say the 4-year-old dog has been adopted into a loving home.

"We will never accept and understand why people do these cruel things to animals, but we feel fortunate that so many residents have seen and informed us", Animal Services said.

While this story may have had a happy ending, the Orange County Animal Services Agency took this opportunity to warn the public against such cruelty to animals.

"We don't know why this happened. Animal Services said: ''The place she (Daisy) was abandoned was just over a 1000 meter drive from the shelter. There are hundreds of animal rescuers and many more willing to adopt a cute and gentle puppy''.

"There is no reason to treat and mistreat animals in this way. Daisy is really lucky someone saw her and contacted us in time. If you have information about abuse. or neglect of dogs or cats. In the event of a possible incident, please contact us, your local law enforcement agency.
