19-Year-Old Shelter Dog Still Loves To Play Fetch And Yearns For A Forever Home

You are only as old as you feel or act…right?

Dogs age at a much faster rate than we do, but many still have tons of energy in their senior years. Senior pets are often passed by for younger pups, but people are missing out on amazing companions.

Ace, a 19-year-old Cattle Dog mix, is proving that age is just a number. He would be 135-years old if he was a human, according to a dog age calculator.

However, this energetic senior loves to go for walks, play, and can still leap into the back seat of a car for rides.

This adorable dog is at Sacremento SPCA looking for a forever home. While his actions do not show his age, he looks like a senior dog and his eyesight is nearly gone

He has enough left that he can still go for walks and play fetch at close range.

The friendly boy is being fostered and spoiled until someone steps up to adopt him. His foster mom told the Dodo, “He thinks he’s 2 years old, not 19!”

She recently took Ace to a pet store and let him pick out a toy. Ace was super excited to go for a ride and after sniffing and nudging a few toys, he found the perfect one – a red fox.

Since he found what he was looking for he thought it was time to head to the car, so he beelined for the automatic door – not realizing you had to pay first.

Ace gets along with other dogs and cats in his foster home and is leader of the pack on walks. He is not letting a number slow him down. “There’s somebody for every dog,” said his foster mom. She says he has excellent house manners and knows the commands “sit” and “down”.

He still has so many walks to take, toys to fetch and kisses to give. If Ace sounds like the perfect dog for you, contact Sacramento SPCA for more information.

Please consider adopting a gray-faced pet. They deserve to spend the rest of their lives in a loving home.
