Apologizing and Regretful, Birdie the Golden Retriever Sounds the Fire Alarm at Doggy Daycare

Birdie the dog wants to apologize to the world, even though she's not sure why she's sorry!

Every Friday, 3-year-old Golden Retriever, Birdie, goes to Dogwoods Lodge in Grimes, Iowa to burn off her excess energy. At the daycare, she is known for her playful and affectionate personality, enjoying belly rubs and getting excited to play with her canine companions upon arrival.

Jessica Tapper, the owner of Dogwoods Lodge, reveals that Birdie frequents their "crazy room," a designated area for highly active dogs, while the "lazy room" accommodates dogs seeking a more relaxed pace.

“She plays nonstop,” Jessica said.

Last Friday, Birdie's enthusiasm to enter the play area led her to jump on the wall, triggering the fire alarm by accident. The Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department arrived to investigate the unknown culprit behind the alarm and discovered Birdie's involvement through security footage.

“Just a false alarm, it happens sometimes,” said firefighter Nick Pearson. “We are happy to go there and see dogs once in a while, so it’s OK.”

Jessica and her team, feeling remorseful for the inconvenience caused by Birdie's enthusiastic act of pulling the fire alarm, took it upon themselves to help her apologize. They wrote a note addressed to the fire department, placed it around Birdie's neck, took a photo, and shared it on their social media pages.

“I’m sorry I pulled the fire alarm today. Sincerely, Birdie,” the note read.

“Birdie tested our fire system today and wanted to apologize to her dog friends and the fire dept. 🙂 #johnstongrimesmetrofire,” Dogwoods Lodge captioned the photo.

While Jessica has taken steps to prevent future incidents by ordering new covers for their fire alarms, Birdie is uncommitted to avoiding similar mishaps in the future.

Our furry friends are more than just pets, they become a part of our family. And just like any other family member, they can sometimes misbehave. Take for example our beloved pet, who has a knack for getting into trouble. Despite her mischievous ways, we can't help but forgive her every time we look at her adorable face. It's true what they say, she's lucky she's cute or she would be in a lot of trouble!

But it's not just her cute face that melts our hearts. Our pet's loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love make it impossible to stay angry with her for too long. She may chew on our shoes or knock over a plant, but her adorable tail wag and puppy eyes quickly remind us of how much joy she brings to our lives. It's no wonder why pets are often referred to as a person's best friend.
