Boy with cleft lip adopts a rescue puppy with the same condition

Bentley Boyers, from Jackson, Michigan, was born with a cleft lip. That makes him look a little different from kids his age but he found a best friend in a puppy with the same condition! Bentley adopted the puppy with a cleft lip from Jackson County Animal Shelter.

His father, Brandon had gone to the local animal shelter to look at chickens but then he spotted the adorable doggo.

The black-and-white pup had a cleft lip just like his son’s, and he instantly knew the sweet dog would make a perfect addition to the family. Bentley’s mom, Ashley, feels that having the puppy will make her son know that he's not alone and that having a cleft lip doesn't make him different.

Talking about the moment Brandon told her about the pup, she reportedly said, "He Facetimed me. He goes, 'I think this one has a cleft lip' and I said 'Get her! We need her!'"

One can see from the images that Bentley took an instant liking to the puppy, his happiness is infectious and beyond adorable. These images and his story are going viral on social media.

“To see him have something in common with a puppy means a lot because he can grow up and understand that he and his puppy both have something that they can share in common,” Click On Detroit quoted Ashley Boyers as saying.

The team at Michigan’s Jackson County Animal Shelter are equally happy to see the ‘instant love’ between the two-month-old pup and Bentley.

Talking about it on Facebook while sharing the images they wrote, ‘It’s so hard to put into words how meaningful this adoption is to all of us… We wish many years of joy as this special pair grow up together!’

The post further introduced the two adorable creatures in the image - ‘Introducing Bentley and his new puppy. At 2 years old and with surgeries already under his belt for his cleft lip, Bentley found his match today in this tiny pup who also has a cleft lip’. The page mentioned that they both instantly loved each other.
