He Was Dumped In Parking Lot 50-Pounds Underweight, Too Weak To Lift His Head
This past January, a family found Ethan abandoned in a shelter’s parking lot, dying, severely emaciated and too weak to even lift his head. Many cars had driven past him, refusing to help, but thankfully the Henderson family stopped.
He was quickly taken in by Kentucky Humane Society, where he weighed in at a skeletal 32 pounds, nearly 50 pounds underweight.
For the last two months, shelter staff has worked tirelessly to help Ethan on his road to recovery. After receiving top-notch care, Ethan has gained a whopping 51 pounds and is now 83 pounds!
Not only has he fully recovered from the neglect he previously suffered, but he has also found a forever home.
Jeff Callaway, the shelter’s facilities director who helped care for Ethan during his recovery, said he and his family planned to adopt Ethan.
The adoption became official after Callaway and his family came to KHS to take Ethan on his freedom ride, but not after giving the strong pup a very special send-off.
KHS threw Ethan an adoption party, where he received a new dog bed, treats, and lots of hugs and kisses. As Ethan walked out of the shelter and through a balloon arch with his new family, KHS staff cheered him on.
“Ethan is a survivor,” Callaway wrote on Facebook. “He is a fighter. He has a remarkable will to live. And that’s exactly what he’s doing now.”
Callaway has made a Facebook page for Ethan, so all of his fans can follow along his journey.
